honestly i think the best thing abt planning a trip for work so far has not been the prospect of going to another country but having the ability to flat out refuse attending any and all meetings within the period of my being away

#doing a phd is such a scam for real it feels like 80% of my time is spent on fucking. meetings.#like sure no academic ever has time for research but do you all EVER wonder why that is #none of you know how to effectively hold meetings they take forever and nothing gets decided on you people SUCK at it #and then it's also all 'junior researchers never come to our meetings even tho they're so important'#literally every meeting ive ever been to could have been an email #except the ones where we discuss each other's chapters/articles #and the meetings for the journal of which i am the eic bc i get to lead them and everyone gets to be involved in the discussion #curry rambles
